Toddler Community Transition (T3) children are between the ages of 2.5 years and 3.5 years.

Parents leave their children to work with the teacher in the room based on
 Montessori principles.
(Note: Children must separate easily from their parents)

What is the purpose of this program?

To provide increased opportunities for the child to develop:
 ·         independence from parent/career
 ·         ability to take direction from Toddler Community Transition (T3) teacher
 ·         ability to make appropriate choices

How will it be different to our regular program?

Initially it will be very similar to our existing Toddler Community (TC) program.  We move gradually from the known to the unknown:
 ·         There will be opportunities for more independent work, (parent/carer stepping back)
 ·         Increasing opportunities for small group times with the Toddler Community Transition (T3) teacher.

Based on Dr Montessori’s findings, the activities offered in T3 are designed around the sensitive periods.  In addition to helping the
child’s psycho-motor development and language skills, the work in the room is aimed at nurturing the child’s urge for independence, self
esteem and confidence by offering activities at which the child can be successful, as only when children feel secure will they have the
confidence and inclination to try anything new.  To help this process, our attitude when interacting with the children is relaxed and
supportive, bearing in mind that emotional needs take priority before curiosity can set in.

If you and your child are interested in joining our Transition Group, please contact the centre to arrange a visit. The phone number is
9383 1258. You can try the playgroup out free of charge before you enroll. Just bring along a piece of fruit or vegetable to share
 at snack time.
